Job summary

Pearl of Rolling Meadows is seeking a Dietary Aide responsible for performing dietary routines, assisting with meal preparation and service, and maintaining cleanliness in the Dietary Department. The role requires following safety, health, and privacy policies while providing compassionate care to residents and families.

Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work flexible hours, and be comfortable collaborating with staff and residents in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• High School graduate preferred; experience in institutional dietary service is a plus.
• Ability to read, understand and follow recipe directions, diet orders and tray cards.
• Ability to perform routine tasks with interruptions and maintain safety standards.
• Numerical accountability for recipes and proper measuring of cleaning agents.
• Must be able to work flexible hours and be patient with staff, residents and families.

Responsibilities

• Perform defined dietary work routines and use utensils, supplies and equipment as directed by the Dietary Manager.
• Assist cook in meal preparation and service, and meet meal/snack times.
• Follow Federal and State long term care regulations and Dietary Dept policies.
• Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties; arrange tray cards and serving areas.
• Set up dining room, serve residents, wash and store dishes.
• Report equipment needs and any safety or facility issues.
• Receive and store food supplies; follow fire, disaster plans and infection control policies.
• Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect; report grievances.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and cooperate with department duties.
