Job summary

Cascadia Senior Living in Olympia, Washington is seeking a Cook to help create a joyful community by preparing and serving meals for residents. You will oversee the food service operation, ensure daily supply levels, and help maintain a clean, safe kitchen.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, English proficiency, and a current Food Handler’s card; you should be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and follow state sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Maintain current Food Handler’s card.
• Education or experience sufficient to meet position requirements or as required by State regulations.
• Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
• Requires attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Has compassion and special interest in working with the senior population.
• Ability to relate positively and communicate appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers and other employees.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and overtime, to meet the requirements of the position.
• Pass a criminal background and fingerprint check.
• Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
• Ability to creatively problem-solve
• Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision)

Responsibilities

• Prepares food items and serves food to residents within scheduled timeframe.
• Follows menu cycle, noting changes or substitutions made on proper form.
• Cleans and maintains a neat, safe working environment including the kitchen and food service areas.
• Complies with state sanitation codes.
• Maintains inventory control, places food order, verifies that items are received appropriately and restocks kitchen shelves.
• Directs food serve and dining service functions.
• Maintains the quality of food prepared and samples the food to ensure the quality of the food served to the residents.
• Ensures that resident food preferences are known and followed.
