Job summary

St. Mary’s Healthcare System for Children is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide direct and indirect patient care under supervision.

The role requires NY CNA certification and BLS, with duties spanning vital signs, feeding support, and care plan implementation in a pediatric setting. The position emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, accurate documentation, and ensuring resident safety and well-being across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of 100 hours Nurses Aide Training Program. Certified Nurses Aide by State of NY.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality and safe delivery of resident care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and report observations.
• Assist in implementation of direct resident care per care plan.
• Complete daily resident assignments efficiently.
• Ensure resident safety throughout shift.
• Supervise assigned residents and track their location.
• Maintain resident appearance and hygiene.
• Promote age-appropriate independence in ADLs.
• Keep environment neat, clean, and organized.
• Assist in feeding per care plan to ensure nutrition and hydration.
• Document vital signs, I&O, heights/weights as directed.
• Report changes in resident status to nurse manager.
• Communicate resident status during shift changes.
• Engage residents in age-appropriate social activities.
• Collaborate with therapeutic activities staff.
• Escort residents to appointments and complete clinic forms.
• Identify belongings and maintain inventory.
• Report broken equipment immediately.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Assist in admissions process and vital signs.
