Job summary

St. Marys Healthcare System for Children in New York, NY seeks a Certified Nurses Aide to provide direct and indirect patient care under supervision. You will support a pediatric team, follow care plans, document vital signs, assist with ADLs, and help maintain a clean, safe environment.

Candidates must have NY CNA certification, a 100-hour training, and BLS. One year of Med/Surg or Pediatrics experience is preferred; a friendly, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of 100 hours Nurses Aide Training Program.
• Certified Nurses Aide by State of NY.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• One year experience in Medical Surgical / Pediatrics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality and safe delivery of resident care.
• Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and reports observations and makes recommendations.
• Implements direct resident care as per care plan.
• Completes daily resident assignments efficiently.
• Accountable for resident safety throughout shift.
• Supervises assigned residents and maintains location of residents.
• Ensures resident appearance reflects good personal hygiene and dress.
• Promotes age-appropriate independence on ADLs.
• Keeps living environment neat, clean, and organized.
• Assists in feeding to ensure optimal nutrition and hydration per care plan.
• Accurately documents vital signs, intake/output, heights/weights as directed.
• Reports status changes to staff nurse/nurse manager.
• Communicates resident status on shift changes.
• Engages residents in socialization and stimulation.
• Collaborates with therapeutic activity staff.
• Escorts residents to appointments and ensures forms are completed.
• Identifies resident/environmental/personal belongings.
• Reports broken equipment immediately.
• Maintains a clean work environment.
• Initiates admissions by greeting residents and assisting with vital signs.
