Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support residents in long-term care. The role provides daily living assistance, basic nursing tasks, and psychosocial support under RN supervision.

You will help with transfers, vital signs, meals, documentation, and infection prevention. The position requires CNA certification and ongoing continuing education, with driving eligibility if needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with State Board of Nursing required or in process of obtaining via endorsement.
• Continuing education credits required annually.
• If applicable, registered with Unlicensed Assistive Person Registry.
• Driving policy may apply; Sanford Driving Policy may be used.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, vital signs, and psychosocial support.
• Assists residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using proper transfer techniques.
• Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience.
• Assists residents with meals and hydration.
• Aids providers and nursing staff during procedures when needed.
• Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and diet.
• Communicates changes in resident condition to the charge nurse.
• Collects non-invasive samples and vital signs.
• Provides housekeeping and laundry to keep living areas clean.
• Supports wellness and recreational programs and encourages resident participation.
• May participate in committees as needed.
