Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to support nursing staff in patient care. Primary duties include taking vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and maintaining a clean, safe unit environment.

Ideal candidates will have basic medical terminology knowledge, English proficiency, and BLS certification, with hospital experience preferred. The role requires weekend and holiday availability in a busy clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must read, write, and speak English effectively.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate therapeutically with patients.
• Experience in patient care, preferably in acute care.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (AHA).
• Completion of approved workplace violence responder training within 30 days of hire and annually.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional and technical nursing staff in patient care.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Assist with hygiene and elimination, comfort and safety.
• Stock unit supplies and operate hospital equipment as directed.
• Perform routine clerical tasks and other duties as assigned.
