Job summary

Candidate must be certified MA or complete a training program with 2 years MA experience; BLS CPR is required, and EMR experience is preferred. 2+ years in a medical office is a plus, with a focus on quality care.

Qualifications

• Must be certified Medical Assistant.
• If hire without certification, must complete MA training program or have two years MA experience.
• Must obtain Medical Assistant certification within 18 months of hire.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
• Proficiency in basic clinical skills (phlebotomy, blood pressure, EKG, injections) required.
• EMR experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years’ prior experience in a medical office setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
• Obtains and documents patient vitals.
• Assists providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
• Draws blood and/or assists in obtaining other specimens.
• Prepares and routes specimens to laboratories; verifies insurance.
• Documents all activities in the medical record.
• Performs scheduling of future appointments, surgeries, and/or testing.
