Job summary

Minnewaska Community Health Services is seeking a part-time Care Attendant to provide personal care and health-related services for residents. You will assist with daily living activities, med administration per RN guidance, and support residents to maintain independence while following care plans.

The role requires English reading/writing/speaking ability and may require dementia training. Compensation includes shift differentials and benefits; weekend work is included.

Qualifications

• ACNA/NAR or HHA certificate is preferred, but not required.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Assist the resident with personal cares which may include all or some of the following: shampooing of hair, assist with showering, rubbing with lotions, fingernail cares and foot cares if instructed to do so, medication administration, redirection of a confused resident, and all activities of daily living as assigned
• Assist with dressing, grooming and oral cares as assigned
• Assist in use of hearing aids and glasses for residents
• Help each resident to reach and maintain the highest level of performance. Promote independence, not dependence, with residents offering choices and fostering self-help skills.
• Assist with treatments as delegated by the Registered Nurse
• Observe residents and report changes in physical and emotional condition such as change in attitude, loss of appetite, weight, etc. Report changes to RN.
