Job summary

Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC) seeks a dedicated doula to provide continuous emotional and physical support during labor and into the early postpartum period, working closely with the patient and family. Responsibilities include facilitating birth choices, comfort measures, and effective communication with medical staff.

Requirements include HS or GED, Heart Saver CPR certification, completion of an approved Birth Doula Training Course, and at least three independently documented births

Qualifications

• HS or GED required.
• Birth Doula Training Course attendance required.
• CPR Certification (Heart Saver) required.
• 3 independently documented births after Doula Training Course.

Responsibilities

• Support laboring woman and family with choices, breathing, relaxation, and comfort measures.
• Maintain continuous presence from labor onset or admission until delivery and postpartum transition.
• Provide emotional support and facilitate communication with healthcare providers.
• Document birth experience for doula coordinator within 48 hours after delivery.
• Offer postpartum support and breastfeeding guidance if chosen.
