Job summary

IU Health seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care. You will assist with meals, mobility, baths, and linens, and help the bedside RN by taking vital signs and reporting changes.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration under high workload and stress.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care and comfort measures, including assisting with meals, drinking, and walking.
• Assist with baths, linen changes, and garment care for patients.
• Support the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities promptly.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts, alarms, and staying within arm's reach.
