Job summary

IU Health in Bloomington is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care and enhance patient experience. Responsibilities include helping with meals, assisting with baths, offering drinks, and providing clean linens and gowns to patients.

The PCA will assist the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs, reporting changes promptly, and helping maintain patient safety with gait belts and alarms in a fast-paced hospital setting. Training and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or completion of IU Health PCA program.
• Ability to provide compassionate bedside care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks, assist with meal ordering, encourage walking, assist with baths, and change linens and gowns.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the bedside RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and bed/chair alarms; stay within arm's reach when moving patients.
