Job summary

Rice County is seeking a COMPASS program coordinator to provide community-based care for individuals with substance use disorder and connect them to local resources. Qualifications

• Certification or license in chemical health, mental health, social services, or a related field.
• Must successfully pass a fingerprint-based criminal history check and maintain annual certification through the BCA.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred; licensure in addiction fields is a plus.

Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Services Supervisor, the Community Outreach, Mobile Prevention and Accessible Substance-Use Support (COMPASS) program coordinator will provide community-based care to individuals suffering from substance use disorder (SUD)to help them overcome barriers and move toward recovery. This position is responsible for connecting individuals to local resources, providing ongoing recovery support, and to administer funding to help individuals overcome financial barriers to their recovery success. This position will collaborate with the Rice County Behavioral Health Unit, local law enforcement agencies, and community partners. The coordinator will be responsible for monitoring participant progress and maintaining communication with law enforcement and community partners. This position is grant funded through June 30, 2028.

• Work directly with local law enforcement and partner agencies to receive and respond to referrals of identified individuals struggling with SUD.
• Contact and be of support to family members or other concerned individuals as is beneficial and appropriate.
• Coordinate and conduct community-based visits in multiple locations; virtual support may be used with clients when in-person visits are not possible or not appropriate.
• Connect and refer individuals with eligible community resources and social services, including assisting with required paperwork, as needed.
• Provide case management and coordinate related services, as needed.
• Provide follow-up with referred individuals within 48 hours.
• Provide and coordinate quarterly communication between law enforcement, interagency departments, and community organizations.
• Educate about and promote the COMPASS program within thecommunity.
• Identify barriers within local systems and regularly share this feedback with members of the Overdose Response Council (ORC).
• Build and sustain effective relationships with individuals and organizations central to the work of the COMPASS Team.
• Advocate for system-level change.
• Attend professional development training and workshops.
• Participate in required staff meetings.
• Participate as a member of committees assigned by the supervisor.
• Responsible for maintaining case notes and data tracking.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification or license in chemical health, mental health, social services, or a related field; previous experience in individual and family support; valid driver’s license and insurance. Must successfully pass a fingerprint based criminal history check and maintain annual certification through the BCA.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in social work
• Addiction studies ora related field
• Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor or Licensed Social Worker with experience in addiction
• Familiarity with Rice County organizations and resources
• Experience managing team projects
• Bilingual in Spanish and/or Somali languages

• HIRING RANGE / UNION: $33.74 - $47.23 per hour / SS Unit – Grade 12
• HOURS: Normal working hours are 8:00am - 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
