Job summary

Rice County seeks a COMPASS program coordinator to connect individuals with substance use disorders to local resources, provide ongoing recovery support, and administer funds to reduce financial barriers to treatment. The role collaborates with the Behavioral Health Unit, law enforcement, and community partners, and maintains progress notes and data tracking.

Qualifications

• Certification or license in chemical health, mental health, social services or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Fingerprint-based criminal history check and annual BCA certification.

Responsibilities

• Work with law enforcement and partner agencies to respond to referrals of individuals with SUD.
• Provide support to family members and concerned individuals as appropriate.
• Coordinate community-based visits across multiple locations; offer virtual support when needed.
• Connect clients with local resources and assist with required paperwork.
• Provide case management and coordinate related services.
• Follow up with referred individuals within 48 hours.
• Coordinate quarterly communications between law enforcement and community organizations.
• Educate the community about the COMPASS program and its services.
• Identify barriers in local systems and share feedback with the Overdose Response Council.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and advocate for system-level improvements.
• Attend professional development and required staff meetings.

Education

Bachelor's degree in social work, addiction studies or related field

Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LADC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW)

Bilingual in Spanish and/or Somali languages
