Job summary

Carolina Cat in Greensboro, NC is seeking a skilled field technician to troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair and test components on construction equipment. You will reference parts data, disassemble/reassemble machinery, use diagnostic tools, operate hoists and lifts, perform preventive maintenance, oil and filter changes, weld, and reprogram controllers.

Strong reading of manuals and ability to lift up to 70 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/certificate or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English, reads and comprehends technical data/service manuals and writes legibly.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive bending tasks and follow manufacturer repair procedures.
• Computer skills: basic keyboarding.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on construction equipment.
• Reference parts and enter data into record systems using applicable tools.
• Disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment; clean parts with rags, cleaners and power washer; use test equipment for diagnostic checks.
• Access all vehicle parts by climbing onto, under and into vehicles.
• Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts and other aids to move items and parts for disassembly and reassembly.
• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, oil changes, replace filters/belts/coolants, and may drain/refill fuel systems.
• Weld frames and wear strips, grind welds smooth with power grinders.
• Lift/carry and position heavy components using cranes.
• Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
• Reprogram equipment controllers with instruments/computers.
• Other duties as assigned.
