Job summary

Carolina Cat is seeking a skilled technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain construction equipment. You will disassemble/reassemble components, use diagnostic tools, and operate hoists and cranes to move heavy parts.

The role requires reading manuals, lifting up to 70 pounds, and performing preventative maintenance, oil changes, and fuel system servicing. Welding and reprogramming controllers are also part of the duties in a dynamic shop setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/certificate or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of related experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the local language, reads and comprehends technical data/service manuals.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 70 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, perform repetitive bending tasks and achieve required torque specifications per manufacturer’s repair procedures.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair and test parts/equipment on construction equipment.
• Disassemble/reassemble parts or equipment using tools; clean parts; use test equipment for diagnostics; operate powered equipment for repairs.
• Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to access all parts of the vehicle.
• Use overhead hoists, lifts, forklifts and other aids to move items and relocate parts for disassembly and reassembly.
• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, oil changes, filter/belt/coolant/hoses replacements; drain/clean/refill fuel systems.
• Weld frames and wear strips; grind welds smooth with power grinders.
• Lift/carry and position rams used to remove idlers; operate overhead crane.
• Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
• Use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
• Other duties as assigned.
