Job summary

1 Utah Transit Authority is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and assist in running and heavy repairs on FrontRunner locomotives and subsystems. You will work on doors, HVAC, couplers, passenger amenities, communications, air brakes, cab controls, electrical and diesel engines, with a $2,000 hiring incentive.

Shift is 7:15pm–5:45am with Sunday/Monday/Tuesday off on some schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ mechanical work experience and/or 1 year technical school.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance inspection and repair techniques.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic theory and principles.
• Able to pass MET and Commuter Rail Helper tests; DOT medical card.
• Able to operate forklifts, cranes, track mobile, boom lift, scissor lift.
• Able to acquire and maintain QMP certification.
• Valid Utah driver's license; safe driving record.
• Able to perform physical requirements and attend regularly.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Assist advanced-skilled employees in running repairs and heavy repairs of FrontRunner locomotives and subsystems.
• Work on doors, HVAC, couplers, passenger amenities, communications, air brakes, cab controls, electrical, and diesel engines.
• Maintain tools and comply with safety and DOT regulations.
