Job summary

Utah Transit Authority is seeking an experienced maintenance technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and assist in running repairs and heavy repair of FrontRunner locomotives and subsystems including doors, HVAC, couplers, passenger amenities, and electrical systems. The role requires qualification testing (MET) and possession of an DOT Medical card.

The position offers a 7:15pm–5:45am shift with Sundays off, a $27.13–$31.13 per hour wage plus a $1.00–$1.50 shift differential

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years’ mechanical work experience and/or 1 year technical school/training.
• Knowledge and understanding of vehicle maintenance inspection and repair techniques.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic theory and principles.
• Able to pass MET and Commuter Rail Helper hands on test.
• Competence in Outlook and basic computer skills.
• Able to work safely on energized equipment up to 480 VAC and 600 VDC.
• DOT Medical card required.
• Utah driver’s license with clean record.
• Physical capability to perform job tasks as described.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preventive maintenance, inspections, and assisting other advanced-skilled employees in running repair and heavy repair of FrontRunner locomotives and subsystems.
• Perform service on doors, HVAC, couplers, passenger amenities, and electrical systems.
• Operate and certify equipment such as forklift, crane, track mobile, boom lift, and scissor lift as required.
• Maintain safety standards and radio communication with supervisors and coworkers.
• Complete training and post-training qualification periods and provide required tools on hire.
