Job summary

The Arc Southern Chesapeake is seeking a Van Driver to provide reliable, safe transportation for individuals supported by the agency. The role requires operating assigned vehicles, assisting passengers, and maintaining accurate trip records while ensuring a respectful, smoke-free environment.

You will keep vehicles clean, perform routine maintenance, and respond to emergencies, following all laws and agency policies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Three years driving experience; CDL License preferred but not required.
Adequate vision and hearing to supervise passengers and respond appropriately.

Responsibilities

Operates assigned vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
Assists passengers in and out of the vehicle; operates ramps, lifts and tie down devices as necessary.
Reads and interprets maps and driving directions to plan efficient routes.
Keeps the vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
Performs minor maintenance tasks on vehicles and fuels them.
Responds to emergencies and provides First Aid until responders arrive.
Provides support as Direct Support staff for the Community Supports Team; crisis intervention as needed.
Maintains documentation and reports; follows confidentiality and ethical guidelines.
