Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa, Inc. is seeking a Lead Community Trainer in Waterloo, IA. This full-time role guides and supports participants, trains staff, and coordinates services to meet Individual Program Plans.

Responsibilities include scheduling, documentation, crisis intervention, and direct participant engagement. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a background in education or social services, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, required.
• At least 1 year related experience, preferred.
• CPR/First Aid and Medication Management certification within 6 months of starting employment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to instruct persons with disabilities.
• Ability to adjust to unexpected situations.
• Computer proficiency.
• Reliable cellphone.
• Handle confidential information.
• Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as primary contact for parents/guardians of program participants at assigned site.
• Monitors schedules, site cleanliness, and time off for participants.
• Drives participants to appointments, events, stores, and activities.
• Maintains documentation and submits to Program Manager promptly.
• Assists with training new team members.
• Supervises development of Individual Program Plans and paperwork.
• Maintains documentation per guidelines and documentation systems.
• Submits participant documentation timely.
• Builds rapport through effective communication.
• Provides crisis intervention as needed and complies with reporting requirements.
• Maintains professional relationships with participants, families, coworkers, and other agencies.
• Supports participants in developing strategies and following through on responsibilities.
• Encourages goals and programming aligned with participants' needs.
• Provides information about community resources and helps participants advocate for themselves.
• Ensures access to resources and coordinates as needed.
• Performs ongoing assessment of participant needs and capabilities.
• Completes all duties and models IMPACT values.
