Job summary

Thresholds is seeking a Community Support Specialist to join our Substance Use Treatment program. You will help people with substance use disorders through harm reduction services, meeting clients where they are—at home and in the community—and supporting them on their journey to recovery.

The role involves outreach at shelters and in communities to educate clients about naloxone, make referrals to mental health and addiction services, and assist with housing, employment, and daily living needs.

Qualifications

• Passion for substance use and mental health treatment.
• Embrace the harm reduction model.
• Good writing and communication skills.
• Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving.
• Be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license, current car insurance, and daily access to a car.
• Willingness to provide transportation to clients.

Responsibilities

• Outreach at shelters or on the street at community events to engage clients.
• Distribute and educate clients on naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal medication.
• Make direct referrals to substance use or mental health treatment and other services.
• Remove barriers to housing, employment, and mental healthcare through case management.
• Provide transportation to doctors' appointments, benefits offices, or the grocery store.
