Community Support Specialist

Pay Rate: $20.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspire hope that addiction is a treatable mental disease
  • Employ a multidisciplinary approach supporting shared patient care
  • Assist patients in identifying and seeking treatment for mental and physical health issues
  • Help patients achieve independence and rehabilitation goals
  • Use evidence-based interventions to develop life skills
  • Provide care emphasizing personal strength and harm reduction
  • Support recovery through defining and attaining recovery goals
  • Identify needs, strengths, and obstacles, and teach patients to use resources
  • Educate about substance use disorders, symptoms, triggers, and medications
  • Work independently in community settings as per treatment plans
  • Encourage recovery efforts, independence, and responsibility
  • Participate in developing individualized treatment plans
  • Support patients with emergency services and follow-up referrals
  • Apply knowledge of psychological concepts and coordinate services
  • Assess patient progress regularly and document services accurately
  • Identify relapse risk factors and develop support strategies
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate of Applied Science in Human Services or Behavioral Health required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related preferred

Experience and Requirements:

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Experience with individual or group services focused on recovery

Additional qualities include:

  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment and social services
  • Judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Basic computer skills
