Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and more than one year of experience in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and the criminal justice system and how it relates with Allen County Community Corrections.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to write detailed reports and have great attention to detail.
• Ability to supervise high-risk misdemeanor and/or felony offenders.
• Ability to be certified in the use of Taser, Handcuff, Firearms, and Pepper Spray within 3 months of employment.
• Must attend and successfully complete all required agency training courses, including defensive tactics and other physically demanding hands-on trainings as assigned.
• Working knowledge of defensive tactics.
• Agency subscribes to the NIC Eight Principles of Effective Intervention (EBP); complete required Correctional EBP training programs and demonstrate competencies.
• Ability to obtain Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Certification as assigned.
• Ability to be certified in Motivational Interviewing (MI) within twelve months.
• Ability to obtain required training certificates within 3 months of employment, including First Responder/CPR, Response to Resistance, Verbal De-Escalation, and Disease Control as assigned.
• Valid Driver’s License to operate county vehicle.
• Knowledge of evidence-based principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Supervise high-risk misdemeanor and/or felony offenders assigned to perform community service and ensure contract work is completed.
• Assign tasks and hours worked to participants based on performance.
• Transport participants and equipment to work sites and maintain contact with the Communications Division.
• Document attendance and hours worked with accurate reporting.
• De-escalate sensitive situations and use training to protect participants and staff.
• Prepare detailed written reports for incidents or obstacles affecting daily operations.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment cleanliness and schedule service/repairs as needed.
• Oversee orientation and assist with agency operations in the Coordinator’s absence.
