Under the direction of the Community Projects Coordinator, the Community Service Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of thirteen or more Community Service Work Crew Program participants at any given time ordered to perform community service by providing transportation, monitoring and verification, ensuring contracted work is completed accurately and efficiently. This position is also responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of all vehicles and equipment used to transport participants to contracted work. This position is covered as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSResponder/CPR, Response to Resistance, Verbal De-Escalation, and Disease Control as assigned
The Community Service Supervisor performs work that is relatively standard when assigning program participant tasks and supervising the Community Service Program Work Crew. Understanding of program rules and procedures is required to safely de-escalate sensitive situations between program participants.
RESPONSIBILITYThe Community Service Supervisor makes choices and takes action when providing assistance to program participants on assigned tasks. Work is reviewed upon completion and errors are revealed through adverse effects in subsequent operations.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPSThe Community Service Supervisor maintains frequent communication with other County employees, program participants, government agencies and community organizations when overseeing the Community Service Program Work Crew.
WORKING CONDITIONSThe Community Service Supervisor works in a standard office environment with the ability to move around freely including frequent time spent standing, walking, lifting up to sixty pounds, bending, pushing/pulling loads, reaching over head and kneeling. Some crawling, typing, and proofreading exist and frequent attention to detail, monitoring equipment and detailed inspection is required. Frequent exposure to dangerous equipment, chemicals and noise and very frequent exposure to extreme temperatures exists. Daily contact with program participants who have been convicted of various misdemeanor and felony offenses and may be dangerous, violent and/or abusive.
SUPERVISIONThe Community Service Supervisor is responsible for the supervising the Community Service Work Crew Program which consists of up to fifteen participants.
LICENSINGValid Driver’s License to operate a county vehicle

HOURSHours and Days vary: Tuesday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Saturday 7:45 am - 3:45 pm typical; 37.5 hours/week as assigned, overtime as required,
