Job summary

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department seeks a Recreation Programs Specialist to design and implement a diverse array of youth, teen, adult, and 50+/seniors programs across multiple locations. You will market, schedule, and coordinate activities, coach events, and ensure safety protocols are followed throughout citywide offerings.

You will also adjust curricula for participants with varying abilities, handle billing and reporting, and work with volunteers to promote engaging

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Recreation or related field required with 1 year experience (can substitute for education up to 2 years).
• Appropriate certifications such as CPR/First Aid may be required.
• Experience planning and delivering youth, teen, adult and senior programming is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops, markets, schedules, implements, conducts, and coordinates citywide activities and events.
• Coaches, officiates, and ensures safety compliance for programs.
• Modifies classes for participants with disabilities and maintains records.
• Handles payments and budgeting processes and coordinates with partners.
• Engages volunteers and supports promotional materials.
