The City of Detroit's General Services Department is seeking a Recreation Program Coordinator to supervise and conduct recreation activities at assigned centers or special phases of programs.

You will promote programs, identify sponsorship opportunities, and supervise Playleaders and volunteers. The role includes directing indoor/outdoor activities, leading classes and games, and preparing activity reports.

Formación

• Knowledge of rules, regulations and procedures of a recreation center.
• Knowledge of purpose and intent of organized recreation work.
• Knowledge of rules and equipment of various athletic events and games.
• Knowledge of recreational and athletic activities.
• Skill in administering basic first aid.
• Skill in effectively communicating with program participants, the general public and other departmental employees.
• Ability to organize, instruct and lead groups in various forms of directed recreational activities.
• Ability to oversee and monitor recreation programs and activities.
• Ability to prepare activity reports.
• Ability to demonstrate resourcefulness and initiative in promoting recreation programs and activities.
• Ability to operate a personal computer utilizing word processing and other related software.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Responsabilidades

• Assists in promoting recreation center programs and activities.
• Assists in identifying sponsorship opportunities within the community.
• In the absence of the supervisor, represents the department and assumes responsibility for the activities and safety of the recreation center and assigned employees.
• Directs and monitors the activities of Playleaders, volunteers, other seasonal employees, and providers.
• Completes work activity reports.
• Conducts formal exercise classes and directs free play, including basketball, volleyball, and other indoor games, and supervises arts and crafts and other projects.
• Organizes and directs the activities of an outdoor play center.
• Assists in the direction of indoor and outdoor activities and programs.
• Supervises, coordinates and instructs groups at one or more small summer playgrounds, in preparation for special activities.
• Administers first aid.
