Job summary

The City of Stamford's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a Program Assistant to help plan, coordinate, and deliver recreational programs and events for youth, adults, and seniors. You will assist with logistics, set up spaces, and ensure participant safety and engagement.

The role involves greeting participants, checking attendance, supporting instructors, and enforcing rules while working both independently and as part of a team in a community-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Age 15 or older interested in working with children ages 3-13; Reliable Transportation Required

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and delivering recreational activities, classes, and events for youth, adults, and seniors.
• Set up and break down activity areas, ensuring equipment and supplies are available and in good condition.
• Provide on-site support during programs to ensure safety, participation, and a positive experience for attendees.
• Greet and check in participants; maintain accurate attendance records.
• Support instructors and recreation staff in supervising participants and enforcing rules.
• Other related duties as assigned
