Job summary

The City of Tucson invites applications for Recreation Assistant to support daily operations of Parks and Recreation facilities and assist with delivering recreation programs for children, youth, adults, and seniors.

The role focuses on customer service, registrations, recordkeeping, safety inspections, and coordination with staff and partners. It does not supervise permanent staff and reports to the Recreation Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months post High School
• One (1) year of relevant experience
• Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones, greets customers, and responds to questions regarding programs, memberships, reservations, facility schedules, fees, rules, and services.
• Processes registrations, reservations, memberships, and payments using recreation management, point-of-sale, and other computer systems.
• Assists customers with routine concerns and complaints and refers complex or sensitive matters to appropriate staff.
• Provides and distributes approved program, facility and marketing information.
• Assists with planning, developing, and implementing recreation programs, classes, camps, and special events.
