Job summary

City of South El Monte is seeking an enthusiastic Recreation Assistant to support the delivery of youth and community programs. You will help supervise activities, set up facilities, assist staff and volunteers, and ensure safety and compliance with park rules.

Responsibilities include helping with events, assisting with equipment, and performing light custodial duties while maintaining a friendly, inclusive environment for participants and families.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in high school with a work permit or graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
• First Aid/CPR certification issued by an authorized agency within 90 days of employment.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license and proof of insurability.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and coaches sports; monitors activities to ensure park rules are followed and equipment is used safely.
• Assists in maintaining recreational facilities and light custodial tasks.
• Delivers community recreation programs and supports staff and instructors.
