Job summary

City of Santa Monica is hiring a Recreation Assistant to help run youth and community programs across areas such as after-school programming, youth sports, and events. You will monitor activities, register participants, and help ensure safety and policy compliance.

The role involves opening/closing facilities, maintaining records, handling reservations and fees, and providing first aid when needed. A high school diploma and six months of related experience are desirable; CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Six months of related experience desirable.
Valid CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

Assist in executing City activities and events across program areas.
Monitor or supervise participants; enforce rules and call for back-up as needed.
Register participants, take reservations, schedule facility use, and collect fees.
Maintain records including participation levels and revenue.
Open, inspect, and secure facilities daily; assist in setup and security for programs and events.
Distribute and collect surveys; administer first aid if needed; resolve conflicts.
Provide information and referrals to participants and schools.
