The Trevor Project is seeking a Community Philanthropy Manager (Direct Response) to drive the organization’s integrated direct/digital fundraising campaigns. Qualifications

  • Previous direct response marketing experience at an agency, nonprofit, or higher education institution. 3-5 years experience.
  • Deep knowledge of both the art and science of direct response marketing and a proven track record as a fundraiser with individual gifts.
  • Proficiency in direct marketing best practices including A/B testing; using digital tools including email marketing and SMS platforms; data segmentation; familiarity with Google Docs/Sheets/Presentations; and fundraising software (Salesforce).

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of Community Philanthropy’s integrated fundraising campaigns (direct mail, email, advertising, SEM, mobile, social).
  • Create segmentation strategies to improve donor participation and engagement.
  • Lead project management of campaigns using Asana to produce cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship pieces.
  • Manage projects with vendors including agencies, printers, mail houses, and data purges.
  • Demonstrate fair, ethical, and equitable business practices.
  • Collaborate with teams to align messaging and donor data management.
  • Demonstrate planning and problem-solving skills under tight timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Job description

Role: Community Philanthropy Manager, Direct Response
Location: This role will be remote in the continental United States, Alaska, or Hawaii
Reports to: Vice President of Community Philanthropy
Classification: Exempt Full Time

Starting Salary Range: $79,040- $87,360

Summary:
This role is responsible for providing direction and operational support for The Trevor Project’s annual integrated direct/digital fundraising campaign strategy as well as serving as the point of contact for the organization’s fundraising agency/vendor(s) of record. You will have primary responsibility for the implementation of all integrated direct/digital fundraising plans and have oversight and project management responsibility for all direct & digital appeals. You’ll work closely with the Individual Philanthropy, Development Operations, and the Marketing, Communications & Content Teams - ensuring alignment with organizational messages, supporting donor data management, and executing complex fundraising campaigns.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Be responsible for managing all aspects of Community Philanthropy’s integrated fundraising campaigns, to include direct mail, email appeals, advertising, search engine marketing, mobile fundraising, and social media fundraising

  • Create effective segmentation strategies that employ integrated direct/digital best practices and improve donor participation and engagement

  • Leads the project management (through Asana) of integrated direct/digital fundraising campaigns to produce cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship pieces including direct mail pieces, letters, emails, web, and other media pieces

  • Manage projects with vendors including direct marketing agency, printers, mail house, merge purge, etc.

  • Demonstrate fair, ethical, and equitable business practices

  • Learn eagerly, share knowledge appropriately, and improve continuously

  • Demonstrate successful planning and problem-solving skills, including multitasking and working well within tight timelines

  • Work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with others

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Previous direct response marketing experience at an agency, nonprofit, or higher education institution. At least 3-5 years experience in this area.

  • You have deep knowledge of both the art and science of direct response marketing and a proven track record as a fundraiser with individual gifts.

  • Proficiency in:

    • Proficiency in:

      • Direct marketing best practices including A/B testing; developing solid fundraising tests and controls and writing and editing fundraising appeals, for digital and print.

      • Prior experience using digital tools including email marketing and SMS/mobile giving platforms

      • Analytical with a high level of confidence working with data and developing data segmentation

      • Familiarity with using the Google platform including Google Docs, Sheets, and Presentations.

      • Keen understanding of the importance of data in direct marketing. Comfortable and swift with using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.

      • You have a strong facility with fundraising software (Salesforce preferred) and a broad understanding of donor acquisition, retention, digital giving, and moves management.

      • You have used and can develop HTML/emails and SMS messages in various platforms such as MailChimp and texting platforms.

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
