Job summary

First Merchants Corporation seeks a Community Home Lending Officer to originate residential mortgage loans while expanding access to sustainable homeownership through community engagement and education. You will build relationships with real estate professionals, employers, housing agencies, and referral sources, educating customers on mortgage products and programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in mortgage lending or related residential lending.
• Active NMLS registration and ability to maintain eligibility for mortgage loan originator registration.
• Experience achieving sales, production, or business development goals.
• Experience independently developing and managing a pipeline of mortgage lending opportunities.
• Experience analyzing borrower financial information and recommending lending solutions.
• Experience educating customers on financial products and guiding through the lending process.

Responsibilities

• Develop new mortgage business through networking, prospecting, and cultivating relationships with real estate professionals, builders, employers, and homebuyers.
• Educate customers on mortgage products, down payment assistance programs, and homebuying process.
• Interview applicants, analyze financial information, take mortgage applications, and submit complete loan files.
• Maintain knowledge of mortgage products, programs, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Build partnerships with community organizations and referral sources to expand homeownership opportunities.
• Plan and deliver homebuyer education workshops and community outreach events.
