Job summary

King William County Library System is seeking a Branch Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of a small library system, reporting to the Library Director. You will lead programming, outreach, and staff teams while ensuring services meet community needs and uphold our mission.

Evening and weekend hours are required. Based at the Upper King William branch, you will coordinate promotions, manage stakeholder relationships, and guide strategic initiatives to improve operations and service

Qualifications

• MLIS/MLS required.
• One year of public library experience required.
• One to three years of supervisory or management experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the library programming and outreach team, including facilitation of regularly scheduled meetings.
• Propose and prioritize programming and outreach initiatives for approval by the Director.
• Develop and distribute the programming and outreach schedule across all platforms and teams.
• Oversee and coordinate all library promotional efforts, including print materials, social media content, and website updates.
• Identify and implement innovative strategies to improve library operations and create new service opportunities.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills by anticipating, understanding, and responding to the needs of internal and external clients, ensuring elevated levels of satisfaction within established organizational parameters.
• Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to set goals, solve problems, and make decisions that enhance library services and organizational success.
• Assess situations with sound judgment to determine importance, urgency, and risk, and make timely decisions in the best interest of the library and its community.
• Develop strategies to advance library goals, including setting objectives, implementing action plans, and evaluating progress and outcomes.
• Analyze trends and environmental conditions to make informed decisions aligned with the library’s mission, vision, and values.
• Partner with the Library Director to support planning, execution, and promotion of the library’s strategic plan.
• Ensure compliance with legal and policy requirements related to patron privacy and the custodianship of patron records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
