Job summary

Lafayette Library is seeking a customer-focused staff member to support daily service points, provide reference and information services to patrons of all ages, and assist in promoting literacy through programs.

The role also involves reader’s advisory support, assisting with collection development, and helping users with equipment and the online catalog, ensuring a welcoming and informed library experience for the community.

Qualifications

• Some college required.
• One year of work experience in public library services or an equivalent mix of training and experience.
• Knowledge of basic library functions and procedures; familiarity with reference tools and information retrieval.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service at library service points and assist patrons with reference and reader’s advisory needs.
• Assist in planning, promoting, and presenting library programs and outreach activities.
• Support Circulation by shelving materials and assisting in related tasks; may act as person-in-charge.
• Assist patrons with library equipment and resources, including computers, e-readers, online catalog, and databases.
