Job summary

The Outreach Clerk supports outreach services under the Community Engagement Librarian, helping develop programs and participate in programming at community events.

Responsibilities include assisting customers with library services, advising on catalog usage, and participating in outreach activities, with occasional circulation duties. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organization and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer skills.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Caries out visits to community events, organizations, businesses, and senior centers; prepare materials and conduct programming as requested.
• Develop partnerships with the community under the guidance of the Community Engagement Librarian.
• Promote reading and literacy at outreach events for children, families, and underserved populations.
• Assist customers in accessing community services and using library resources.
• Assist patrons with the online catalog and other electronic tools; help them use library services, equipment, and facilities.
• Help patrons apply for library cards and manage holds and circulation tasks.
• Attend meetings and workshops related to programming and outreach; assist in setting up outreach events.
• Process donated materials for outreach giveaways or book fundraisers; may fill in as circulation clerk as needed.
