Responsibilities

Business Development Liaison

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130-bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial, and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

Position Summary

The Business Development Liaison implements the philosophy, policy, procedures, systems, and strategic goals set forth by the senior management team while maximizing referral potentials from assigned accounts and developing new business to achieve the goals and objectives of the business development system.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health area, marketing, business administration, or related field is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years experience in healthcare business development/marketing with measurable results, and knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles is preferred.

Licensure: Must have a valid driver's license.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop new accounts and markets in employer EAP, Primary Care Physicians/Licensed Practitioners, and managed care segments, as directed by the Director of Business Development.
  • Achieve business development goals by making 60 contacts per week to develop qualified leads.
  • Maintain and update current account management lists.
  • Contact primary accounts through visits, calls, and mailers to build trust and relationships.
  • Monitor referrals and admissions to plan strategies for maximizing referral potential.
  • Stay informed on industry changes through self-education, peer engagement, and community involvement.
  • Contribute to ongoing SWOT analysis with competitor information.
  • Participate in team efforts to increase productivity and avoid duplication, including joint calls with senior leadership.
  • Promote team concepts within the facility.
  • Analyze facility statistics and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Continuously analyze the healthcare environment for opportunities and threats.
  • Support internal marketing initiatives, such as newsletters and event communications.
  • Attend departmental meetings and provide timely reports.
  • Participate in planning and development committees as needed.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and standards related to conduct, dress, attendance, and punctuality.
  • Support quality and performance improvement goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and patient information.
