Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Rochester is seeking a part-time staff member to represent Catholic Charities at the Elmira Community Kitchen, providing support to volunteers and supervising Capabilities workers. The role emphasizes smooth meal program operations and community outreach.

Responsibilities include meal supervision, inventory control, safe food handling, and collaboration with the program director.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Human Services or equivalent experience in food service.
• Serv-Safe certification or willingness to obtain.
• Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Knowledge of nutrition and safe food handling practices/regulations.
• Experience working with volunteers and understanding poverty/hunger context.

Responsibilities

• Be present during meals and ensure clean, stocked spaces.
• Maintain inventory control and rotate stock for safety.
• Receive and stock donated and purchased items; pick up deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food handling rules.
• Assist volunteer chefs with meal prep, plating, and serving.
• Supervise volunteers and coordinate on-site outreach with partners.
