Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library in Columbus, OH is seeking an Information Services Specialist for the Gahanna Branch. This part-time, non-exempt role focuses on delivering high‑level customer service, guiding adults through information resources, and supporting life skills programs.

You will collaborate with librarians, organize programs, assist with collection tasks, and build connections with community organizations to bring services to patrons. Starting pay range is $21.49–$28.89 hourly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 1-3 years’ customer service experience required.
• Experience delivering programs and services to diverse audiences preferred.
• Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to operate library technology including personal computer, email, software programs (i.e. Windows/Microsoft Office) and other job-related equipment and systems.
• Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, per job requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides a high level of customer service and assists customers with library resources.
• Interviews, researches and answers customer questions using various tools and sources.
• Plans, promotes, presents or coordinates programs for adults at the location and off-site.
• Performs collection management activities as directed.
• Creates displays and merchandises materials.
• Keeps the location neat and inviting for customers and staff.
• May liaison Life Skills services with community members.
• Maintains knowledge of library resources and community services.
• Establishes relationships with local organizations to bring information and programs to the library.
• Operates location in the absence of a manager.
• Performs additional duties as assigned including task forces and committees.
