Job summary

Seattle Foundation seeks a Program Officer to advance community impact by stewarding a multi‑million‑dollar portfolio of programs and investments across diverse issue areas. You will work with community leaders to identify opportunities, elevate local knowledge, and support strategies that build power and belonging.

The role reports to the Director of Programs and collaborates across teams to connect grantmaking, convening, learning, and narrative change.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of relevant experience in community-based work, program management, organizing, advocacy, communications, civic engagement, public service, or related field.
• Demonstrated connection to communities in Greater Seattle or Washington state, with trusted relationships and grounded understanding of local assets.
• Demonstrated interest and skill in narrative storytelling, including listening for meaning, amplifying community voice, and connecting stories to broader change goals.
• Working knowledge of democracy, civic participation, grassroots organizing, and community power building.
• Strong program and project management skills, including coordinating multiple priorities, budgets, and timelines.
• Commitment to racial equity, diversity, and inclusion with knowledge of root causes and systems change.
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with collaborative approach across differences.
• Facilitation experience creating inclusive spaces and guiding discussions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, tailoring messages to audiences.
• Creativity, humility, curiosity, and adaptability; comfort learning new issue areas.

Responsibilities

• Steward a multi-million-dollar portfolio of community programs and investments with strategy alignment, budgets, and timelines.
• Build authentic, reciprocal relationships with community organizations and partners to shape Foundation's work.
• Perform proposal analysis, due diligence, site visits, and write clear recommendations for investments.
• Facilitate community advisory groups and joint decision-making processes.
• Provide responsive partnership support, connecting organizations to resources and removing barriers.
• Monitor grants, learning outcomes, and compliance with a relationship-centered approach.
• Advance community-informed grantmaking, convening, and program practices in collaboration with the Impact team.
• Coordinate with senior program staff to align priorities, narrative strategies, and policy opportunities.
• Hold regular conversations with partners to understand progress and opportunities for collective action.
