Job summary

The Clermont County Public Library seeks a friendly Library Assistant Specialist to deliver exceptional service to guests of all ages. You will handle circulation, answer reference questions, provide technology assistance, assist at the service desk, and actively promote library programs and resources with a welcoming, service-oriented mindset.

Ideal candidates are organized, dependable, and comfortable working evenings, weekends, and at multiple branches.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; two years of related experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, computers, and basic technology troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with library resources, reference services, and office equipment preferred.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and work independently.
• Reliable, confidential, and available to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates Welcoming Behaviors and internal service standards with guests and staff.
• Interprets library policies in a guest-responsive manner and reports issues.
• Maintains knowledge of library materials, services, and programs.
• Answers reference questions in person and by phone using various formats.
• Provides reader's advisory services and bibliographic instruction.
• Reserves materials and facilitates interlibrary loan requests.
• Participates in marketing the collection and library services.
• Conducts training for the public in the use of computers and resources.
• Operates circulation system, checks materials in/out, processes holds, and collects fines.
• Assists with opening/closing, cash handling, and balancing the cash sheet.
