Job summary

Clermont County Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant Specialist to deliver excellent service to guests of all ages. You will assist with circulation, reference, reader's advisory, interlibrary loan, and basic tech training across branch locations.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to multitask in a busy library environment, with some evenings and weekends required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; two years of related experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, computers, and basic technology troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with library resources, reference services, and office equipment preferred.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and work independently.
• Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and at multiple branch locations as needed.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, move loaded book carts, and perform shelving and other physical library duties.
• Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with guests, answers reference questions in person and over the phone using a range of resources.
• Maintains knowledge of library materials, services, and programs and promotes to patrons.
• Operates the circulation system: check in/out, holds, registrations, fines, and fees.
• Reserves materials and processes interlibrary loan requests.
• Trains the public in using computers and electronic resources; assists with catalog and self-service machines.
• Performs general clerical duties and maintains branch files and engagement statistics.
• Monitors branchSafety and facility conditions; reports issues to management.
