Job summary

Clermont County Public Library is hiring a Library Assistant Specialist to deliver excellent service to guests of all ages. You will handle circulation, reference and reader's advisory tasks, assist with technology, and support desk operations.

The role requires strong customer service and computer skills, with availability for evenings and weekends at multiple branches. This is a part-time position with a 20-hour weekly schedule and health and retirement benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, computers, and basic technology troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with library resources, reference services, and office equipment preferred.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask and work independently.
• Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and at multiple branch locations as needed.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds, move loaded book carts, and perform shelving and other physical library duties.
• Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates Welcoming Behaviors and CPP L internal service standards to encourage approachability and interactions with vendors, guests, and staff.
• Interprets library policies and procedures in guest-responsive manner and reports unresolved problems to the Branch Manager or Person-in-Charge.
• Maintains knowledge of library materials, services, and programs and promotes to people of all ages.
• Answers reference questions in person and by phone using various formats and online catalog.
• Provides reader's advisory services and bibliographic instruction for guests of all ages.
• Reserves materials and facilitates interlibrary loan requests using a computerized system.
• Participates in marketing library services and programs.
• Conducts training for public in use of computers and electronic resources.
