First Merchants is seeking a Community Home Lending Officer to originate residential mortgage loans and expand access to sustainable homeownership through community engagement and education. Qualifications

• Active NMLS registration and ability to maintain eligibility for mortgage loan originator status.
• 3+ years of experience in mortgage lending or related residential lending.
• Proven ability to meet sales, production, or business development goals and independently manage a mortgage pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Develop mortgage business through networking with real estate professionals, builders, community organizations, employers, internal referral partners, and prospective homebuyers.
• Educate customers on mortgage products, down payment assistance programs, affordable lending programs, and the homebuying process.
• Interview applicants, analyze financial information, take applications, and ensure complete loan submissions.
• Maintain knowledge of mortgage products, down payment assistance programs, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Build partnerships with community organizations and referral sources to expand homeownership opportunities.
• Plan and deliver homebuyer education workshops and financial education presentations.
