Job summary

North Carolina A&T State University Cooperative Extension in Cabarrus County is seeking an Extension Agent to lead Community Food Systems initiatives. You will drive county programs, engage with consumers, businesses, markets, and policymakers, and connect residents to local food sources through collaboration with growers, stores, pantries, and food banks.

The role emphasizes identifying community needs via assessments, developing strategies, and pursuing grants to strengthen the local food

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 overall or 3.0 in the major field of study (based on a 4.0 scale), or completion of a Master’s degree.
• Personal automobile and valid driver’s license; computer literacy; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to plan, implement, market, and evaluate educational programs; willingness to work as a team member and support a total Extension program; ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead county and community programs and initiatives focused on Community Food Systems.
• Identify community needs through periodic assessments and adapt strategies accordingly.
• Connect residents with local food sources by supporting growers, producers, stores, markets, pantries and food banks.
• Identify grants and funding opportunities to support local food initiatives.
• Increase access to affordable, locally-grown food in Cabarrus County markets and related programs.
