The Community Engagement Specialist will assist with coordinating business partnerships, donations, and sponsorships; community engagement events; and communications, programs, and activities that support the strategic mission and goals of the School Division. At the discretion of the Chief of Communications and Community Engagement, this position may be required to work evenings and weekends when necessary to fulfill the needs of the Division. Essential Job Functions:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Understanding of common office procedures and demonstrated effectiveness to leverage
technology integration strategies for both virtual and in-person events and meetings
● Proficiency in using Google Applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs), Microsoft Office
Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant office software programs
● Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or related software for production of high quality
● Understanding of professional communication etiquette for written and verbal interactions
● Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain an organized workspace
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey information clearly, concisely, and
professionally
● Ability to interact with colleagues, clients, and the public in a courteous and helpful manner
● Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and build positive working relationships
● Strong focus on accuracy and a keen eye for detail in all tasks performed
● Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively under pressure
● Skill in adjusting to changing priorities and workloads with a positive attitude
● Ability to take ownership of tasks and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
● Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
Education and Experience:
Required
● High School Diploma or GED
Preferred
● Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Relations or
other related field
● Two (2) years of recent and successful job experience with increasing levels of responsibility,
ideally on a communications team or related business area
