Job summary

The Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana is seeking a Community Specialist to advance our mission by building partnerships, recruiting volunteers, and expanding Girl Scout participation across local communities.

You will develop relationships with youth-serving organizations, schools, businesses, and faith groups; mentor troop leaders; and ensure excellent member service as the first point of contact. This full-time role requires organizational skills and flexibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent relevant experience (Customer Service/Retail/Membership Sales).
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience and demonstrated track record.
• Conversational Spanish (preferred, but not required).
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and handle pressure.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to motivate prospective partners, volunteers, and families to commit to Girl Scouts.
• Reliable vehicle with current insurance to travel within the council jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local community volunteers.
• Identify and recruit Girl Scouts and local volunteers to fill key community level positions, provide mentorship to new and existing troop leaders.
• Develop and foster community relationships with youth-serving organizations, businesses, corporations, schools, and houses of worship.
• Facilitate new member recruitment and placement and provide the highest level of customer service as the first point of contact.
• Ensure Girl Scouting is available to all youth and adults by promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and access.
