Job summary

West Bay RI is seeking an Employment Specialist to help individuals with IDD discover strengths and pursue meaningful, integrated employment. You will mentor, coach, and advocate within community settings to build confidence and independence.

Responsibilities include exploring goals, developing job opportunities, and coaching for retention, while documenting progress with a person-centered approach. Requires driving and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree preferred in related field.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• ACRE Certification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Explore interests, strengths, abilities, and career goals through interviews, observation, assessments, and hands-on experiences.
• Identify skills, barriers, and workplace accommodations.
• Prepare individuals for employment by building skills related to workplace expectations, routines, communication, interviewing, and professionalism.
• Develop employment opportunities aligned with each individual's strengths and goals with employers and community partners.
• Provide job coaching and ongoing support to help individuals learn responsibilities and succeed in the workplace.
• Maintain accurate case notes and vocational progress records with a person-centered approach.
