Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking a Community Disaster Program Manager for Illinois. The role supervises disaster services in a geographic area, leading staff and volunteers across preparedness, response, and recovery. Travel and deployment are part of the role.

The position offers a full-time schedule with evenings/weekends as needed, a salary in the $69,000–$72,000 range, and benefits aligned to location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Minimum 3 years of related experience.
• 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
• A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Empower Volunteers: Manage and support an employee and volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster services programming in the assigned area.
• Lead the Program: Supervise employees and implement disaster cycle services activities within the region.
• Mission Capacity Building: Develop disaster volunteers who are representative of the communities served.
• Engage Community: Lead and coordinate efforts to mobilize communities and engage partners with assets to prepare for and respond to disasters.
• Manage in a Matrix: Build relationships with internal partners and volunteers in a matrix environment.
• Know Your Communities: Act as the local Red Cross disaster subject matter expert within the area.
• Ready to Respond: Initiate and coordinate disaster relief operations as needed.
