Job summary

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is seeking an experienced Community Development Director to lead planning, zoning, building permitting and inspection, and floodplain management for our barrier island community. Reporting to the Town Manager, the Director guides permitting, planning, and rebuilding efforts while working with Town Council, residents, businesses, and the development community.

• Strong leadership and staff development experience.
• Proven ability to manage planning, zoning, permitting, and floodplain activities.
• Deep knowledge of Florida growth management law, Florida Building Code, FEMA floodplain requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of community development within the municipal government.
• Lead planning, zoning, and building permitting and inspections.
• Direct floodplain management and community engagement efforts.
• Collaborate with Town officials, developers, residents, and businesses to support sustainable growth.
