Job summary

Kindly Direct Care is hiring a caring, dependable Direct Support Professional to provide one-to-one support to an adult with developmental disabilities in Morris County.

The DSP will support a nonverbal 22-year-old woman with autism, encouraging independence and participation in activities both at home and in the community, including outings to Target, the mall, the beach, and parks. A driver license is required, and attention to her care guidelines is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in DSP, mentoring, recreation, human services, or caregiving is helpful but not required.
• Willingness to work Monday–Friday 3:00–7:00 PM and weekends 10:00 AM–3:00 PM.
• Must have VALID DRIVER LICENSE.
• Comfortable providing one-to-one support in home and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one companionship and person-centered support.
• Help the individual participate in community outings.
• Support errands, appointments, recreation, volunteering, social opportunities, or other community activities.
• Encourage independence, communication, decision-making, self-advocacy, and life skills.
• Help the individual work toward goals identified in the service plan.
• Provide reminders, routine support, or light assistance as required by the case.
• Maintain safety and follow individualized support instructions.
• Complete required documentation and communicate reliably with the Kindly team.

About This Opportunity

We're looking for a fun, patient, and engaging DSP to support a 22-year-old young woman with autism who is nonverbal. She communicates by pointing, using her keyboard, and other nonverbal methods, and she enjoys spending time on her screen. The ideal DSP will have a fun, older-sister/mentor vibe and encourage her to explore new activities, build independence, and enjoy outings to Target, the mall, the beach, parks, and more! Responsibilities include supporting her with communication, meals, drinks, and bathroom routines as needed, while gently redirecting her toward positive, engaging activities. She has a seizure disorder managed with medication and allergies, so attentiveness and following her care guidelines are essential. We're looking for someone caring, proactive, and creative who can build a meaningful connection with her while helping her have fun and grow in independence!

What You'll Do
