Job summary
El Hogar is seeking a Substance Use Disorder Specialist to provide community-based treatment for adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders in the Sacramento area. Services are delivered across home, shelter, hospital, and community settings within a recovery-oriented framework.
The role requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adherence to regulatory policies, with emphasis on trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and harm reduction strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field.
- Minimum two years direct service with individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders.
- CA certification as a drug and alcohol counselor preferred.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care and harm reduction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct SUD screenings, assessments, and treatment planning.
- Provide individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, and relapse-prevention services.
- Support clients in developing recovery goals and reducing substance-related risks.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments and treatment plans in compliance with regulations.
